Originally from Sainte-Madeleine, a small village near St-Hyacinthe, Germain Tétreault realized from a young age that he had an uncommon passion: he was fascinated by everything to do with bees. Although some people found them scary, they appealed greatly to Germain. At about the age of 21, he left the province of Quebec to study beekeeping. He spent four years in Saskatchewan, where he worked for several beekeepers in that region, and then he returned to Quebec. He settled in St-Bruno-de-Guigues in Témiscamingue, a region favourable for bee farming. He then created his own business, Miel Abitémis.
Miel Abitémis is a family business that has been producing high quality non-pasteurized honey for over 20 years. The dry, warm summer climate in our region, coupled with cool nights, allows us to produce honey with a unique flavour. Our passion for beekeeping, our experience, as well as our knowledge of the industry all contribute to making our honey both natural and delicious. The employees of Miel Abitémis are happy to produce a top-quality product that truly reflects Témiscamingue.
Responding to the needs of the region, Honey Abitémis offers employment to almost ten people each summer. During the cold season, there is less work to be done, and only two or three employees are kept on.
In the heart of the Temiscamingue countryside, our 50 million bees rush from flower to flower, gathering their delicious honey for you.
